This documentary portrait of Herman Mudgett, aka H.H. Holmes, narrated by Tony Jay, explores the background of America’s first serial killer. Moving to Chicago in the late 1800s, Holmes designed himself a home with secret torture chambers. He rented rooms to unsuspecting tourists in town for Chicago’s 1893 World’s Fair, then tortured them. The film covers Holmes’s early years, his murderous spree and his trial.
