”A mug of warm cocoa with marshmallow topping that produces a comfy feel-good glow.” – The New York Times
“Delightful… Amélie meets Chocolat.” – Film Journal International
March 8, 2011 – New York, New York – ROMANTICS ANONYMOUS tells the story of Angélique Delange (Isabelle Carré, Private Fears in Public Places), a gifted chocolate-maker with a lifelong case of uncontrollable shyness that prevents her from properly sharing her confectionary talents. Jean-René Van Den Hugde (Benoît Poelvoorde, Coco Before Chanel) suffers from a similar case of terminal abashment and runs the Chocolate Mill, a fledgling chocolate company in desperate need of a new direction. When Jean-René hires Angélique as the new sales associate, the two must overcome their shyness and with the chocolate business hanging in the balance, they are forced to fess up to their hidden sweet affections for each other. ROMANTICS ANONYMOUS releases on standard digital platforms and DVD on March 27, following a theatrical and on-demand release in October 2011.
Award-winning director Jean-Pierre Améris (Les aveux de l’innocent) presents this refreshing romantic French comedy that will satisfy the viewer’s appetite for “sweet” romance. With a refreshing and witty script in the same vein as films such as Amélie and Chocolat, the film captures Carré and Poelvoorde’s on-screen chemistry as they showcase brilliant comedic performances with the support of a stellar cast.
ROMANTICS ANONYMOUS premiered at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and received rave reviews from publications including The New York Times, Variety and Screen International. The film is produced by Nathalie Gastaldo and Philippe Godeau and edited by Philippe Bourgueil. Screen writers are Jean-Pierre Améris and Philippe Blasband.
